En una ocasión una persona se me acercó, y me dijo: -Hermano Copeland, el problema que enfrento es mi carne. -Pues, sométala -le respondí. -Usted no entiende -replicó. -Yo no, pero Jesús sí -le contesté-. Pues Él ya venció al mundo; por tanto, lo único que usted debe hacer es acudir a la Palabra, orar, creer en Dios y alejarse de ese problema. En su interior reside el poder para lograrlo. De pronto, mis palabras lo impactaron. Y dejo de preocuparse del problema, y comenzó a enfocarse en la respuesta. Eso es lo que usted también debe realizar. Ya no se vea a sí mismo derrotado por su carne, sino como el reflejo de lo que afirma la Palabra de usted: ¡resucitado juntamente con Jesús y sentado con Él en lugares celestiales! (Efesios 2:6). Vea sus circunstancias desde la perspectiva de Cristo. Medite en la Palabra y proporciónele nutrientes a su ser espiritual para crecer, actúe conforme a 1 Pedro 2:2: «Desead…, la leche espiritual no adulterada, para que por ella crezcáis para salvación». Luego busque: «… el alimento sólido [de la Palabra, el cual] es para los que han alcanzado madurez, para los que por el uso tienen los sentidos ejercitados en el discernimiento del bien y del mal» (Hebreos 5:14). Ordénele a su ser espiritual que gobierne su mente y su cuerpo, pues todavía deberá librar la batalla de la fe para mantener a ambos alineados. Si usted vive conforme al espíritu, triunfará todo el tiempo; y al ver el resultado de tener un cuerpo saludable, obediente y sujeto a la Palabra; se alegrará de haber tomado esa decisión. 2 Samuel 11-13; 2 Corintios 4-5 Yo venzo a mi carne al verme a mí mismo tal como lo declara la Palabra: resucitado juntamente con Jesús y sentado con Él en lugares celestiales (Efesios 2:6).

One time a fellow came up to me and said, “Brother Copeland, I’ll tell you what my problem is. It’s my flesh.”

I said, “Well, overcome it.”

“But, you don’t understand!”

“No, but Jesus does,” I answered. “And He said He’s already overcome the world. So go get in the Word, pray, believe God and walk away from that problem. The power is within you to do it.”

Suddenly it hit him what I was saying. He stopped being hung up on the problem and started focusing on the answer.

That’s what you need to do. Quit seeing yourself defeated by your flesh and start seeing yourself like the Word says you are—raised up together with Jesus and seated with Him in heavenly places! (See Ephesians 2:6.) Get your perspective on things from that heavenly position with Him.

Meditate in the Word and give your spirit man something to grow on. As 1 Peter 2:2 says, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow. Then move on to the “strong meat [of the Word which] belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14).

Bring your spirit man into ascendancy over your mind and your body. You’ll still have to fight the fight of faith to keep them in line. But if you’re walking in the spirit, you’ll win every time. With a healthy, Word-controlled, obedient body, you’ll be glad you did.
